Designblok

This year’s Designblok, the largest design and fashion festival in Central Europe, promises to be something special. The event will be held in some of Prague’s most iconic locations, including Prague Castle, the Prague City Museum, Bastion Florenc, and the Museum of Decorative Arts. The exhibition will also feature works by students of the School of Form.

The Next Generation of Design

Starting October 2, 2024, Designblok will once again welcome visitors to stunning locations in the heart of the Czech capital. The festival returns to Prague Castle – the largest castle complex in the world – and other extraordinary spaces, including the newly renovated Prague City Museum, where visitors can experience the museum’s neo-Renaissance exhibition halls for the first time since their restoration.

The festival will showcase the latest trends in both Czech and international design. Highlights include a solo exhibition by Boda Horák and “High Craft” – an exceptional display at the Prague Castle Riding School that puts a modern twist on traditional craftsmanship. Over 200 designers and brands will present their work across various disciplines, from furniture and lighting to fashion and accessories. The festival offers a packed program of inspiring projects, exhibitions, fashion shows, talks, discussions, workshops, and even a dedicated children's program. The theme of this 26th edition is "Youth."

Youth: A time of new beginnings, love, big dreams, and endless possibilities. Time seems to slow down, and everything feels within reach. In 2023, Designblok celebrated 25 years in grand fashion. While it is one of the world’s oldest design festivals, it remains as vibrant and dynamic as ever. Design, as a discipline, is still relatively new in a historical and social context, but it is undoubtedly one of the great driving forces of the 21st century.

The exhibition space is split into two sections: Superstudio, where big companies, top designers, and international producers showcase their work, and Openstudio – a hub for contemporary design, featuring prototypes of new projects from small local businesses, students, and up-and-coming creators.

School of Form in the heart of Prague

One of the highlights of the festival is the "School Today" exhibition, which takes place at the Bastion Florenc, just behind the Prague City Museum. This unique venue will bring together designers, jewelers, illustrators and graphic artists - from seasoned professionals to emerging talents at the start of their careers. It is a great opportunity for them to showcase their work to a wide audience, with the spotlight on independent designers, free from the involvement of large commercial companies. Leading design schools and universities from across Europe, including the School of Form, will also exhibit their work.

At the exhibition, we will showcase the diplomas from Graduation 9 and Graduation 10, created by Julia Bujak, Julia Fohs, Jagoda Harton, Jakub Bruss, Adrianna Olenderek, Aleksandra Świtalska and Zofia Ziółkowska.
