Abuse, Challenges and the Future of the Anthropocene

This series of flags centers non-human others and aims to encourage abandoning the anthropocentric perspective in favor of empathy toward other species. The eight flags provoke reflection on the relationship between humans and non-human entities. Three flags represent elements of inanimate nature—atmosphere, landforms, and water—while the remaining five depict representatives of animate nature.

The flags share a consistent graphic style, using the icon of a drop as a metaphor for all matter. They emphasize the agency of non-human beings, serving as tools for their emancipation and reinforcing the concept of interspecies coexistence. Despite catastrophic narratives, the author weaves a hopeful story of a better, empathetic future based on interspecies cooperation.
