Grzechotki

The "Rattles" project is a set of objects used to naturally repel insects using essential oils and roasted coffee.

The substances are placed inside the objects, either on cotton or aluminum foil. The multi-purpose tip allows the objects to be hung or driven into the ground. The tip is bevelled and has a small hole in the middle through which you can thread a string or rope. The set consists of three objects of different sizes, all made of porcelain. Each object consists of two parts based on hemispheres that are connected by magnets to form a closed shape resembling a rattle. Repelling insects with this method is effective and completely harmless to the environment, people and insects.

The project was realized by Aleksandra Niewiadomska – a student at the School of Form, SWPS University.

The work was shown as part of the "New Generation" exhibition during the Gdynia Design Days 2023 festival, curated by School of Form lecturer Agata Kiedrowicz.
