Diploma project
Perfiction
“Perfiction” is a critique of society’s obsession with physical perfection. The body bubble kit reflects three trends that define today’s ideal of female beauty. It includes a bee venom bubble for lip augmentation, and two vacuum bubbles for breast and buttock enhancement, designed to be used with a household vacuum cleaner. The objects are made of blown glass and moulded fused glass.
The project presents a dystopian vision of a future where DIY plastic surgery kits exist. “Perfiction” presents the body as a vessel for social and cultural pressures, while the marks left by the bubbles symbolize the psychological imprints of increasingly rigorous beauty standards.
