Palace (Pałac)

This object was designed for serving pierogi—a traditional dish from Eastern Europe. Pierogi come in many variations, influenced by regional traditions and specific occasions. Traditionally, they are savory, stuffed with ingredients like meat, fish, cabbage, buckwheat, lentils, or a mix of potatoes and quark cheese. There are also sweet varieties, such as the Gałęzów buckwheat pierogi, which feature a crepe-like dough filled with a blend of buckwheat, cottage cheese, and sour cream, often paired with seasonal fruits like apples, blueberries, or cherries.

My main goal was to elevate the presentation of pierogi, emphasizing its sensory appeal while adding an element of surprise. The design of the serving dish transforms the dining experience into something truly multisensory—not only visual but also olfactory. When the lid is lifted, the appetizing aroma wafts out, teasing the senses before the dish is revealed.

The shape of both the dome and the lid is inspired by the architecture of the Taj Mahal, reinforcing the idea that sharing a meal is a significant, almost sacred ritual. The dome also serves a practical function by helping to keep the dish warm.
