Colander

Student Project
Colander (Durszlak)
The Colander is a porcelain dish designed for serving zaguby, a traditional delicacy from southern Podlasie, a region in eastern Poland. These diagonally cut rolls of pierogi dough are filled with potatoes—first boiled until tender, then fried to perfection—and topped with onions or crispy pork cracklings.
Since zaguby are rich in moisture and fat, the Colander has been thoughtfully designed to efficiently drain excess liquid while enhancing the visual appeal of the dish. Each hole is meticulously hand-drilled while the porcelain is still soft. The process required a great deal of precision and patience, but in the end, it brought immense satisfaction.

The object was designed by Ignacy Malinowski, a student of Product Design.
It was created as part of the "Tuber" (Bulwa) project, a collaborative initiative involving the School of Form, BioBazar, and Norblin Factory.
