Profile

Joanna Jeśman is a cultural studies scholar and an English studies specialist. She is an assistant professor at the Department of Artistic and Design Research in the Department of Design in Warsaw, SWPS University. Her work explores questions at the intersection of the humanities and life sciences, drawing on posthumanism, animal and plant studies, science and technology studies, and medical humanities.

She teaches courses and seminars on sustainable development, ecology, and human relationships with other species—including microorganisms—examined in their social and cultural contexts.

In collaboration with the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw, the Waag Society, and the Institute for Art, Science, and Technology in Amsterdam, she has developed innovative formats for science communication, using art & science projects such as exhibitions, debates, publications, workshops, expert meetings, and science cafés.

Cultural studies scholar and anglicist, assistant professor at the Department of Artistic and Design Research. Scientifically deals with issues on the edge of humanities and life sciences, in the perspective of posthumanism, Animal and Plant Studies, Science Studies and Medical Humanities. Conducts lectures and seminars on sustainable development, ecology, human relations with other species (including microorganisms) in the socio-cultural context. As part of cooperation with the Copernicus Science Center in Warsaw and the Waag Society, and the Institute for Art Science, and Technology in Amsterdam she created innovative formats popularizing science, using art & science projects (including exhibitions, debates, publications, workshops, meetings with experts, science cafes).
