Masks – wearable sculptures
In 1511, Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam published „Praise of Folly” (Greek: „Moriae encomium;” Latin: „Stultitiae laus” ). In his satirical piece, he criticises all his contemporary social estates: the clergy, merchants, rulers, and scholars. Certain words borrowed from this work, such as flattery, apathy, nonsense, became the starting points for the works of the students.
The task was to invent and carry out experimental objects illustrating the terms drawn. The materials for the masks were most of all incomplete or damaged clothes and accessories donated to School of Form by LLP.
