Oyster Mushroom Floral Foam

A floral sponge cultivated from oyster mushroom mycelium, grown on a nettle substrate, with a generatively designed 3D-printed foundation that mimics the natural growth patterns of fungi. Inspired by the resilience and hardiness of common nettle, this project offers a sustainable alternative to conventional polyurethane sponges. The innovative production process not only sets this sponge apart but also makes it environmentally friendly. Given the right conditions, the sponge can even sprout small mushrooms, adding to its unique appeal.
