MAKALU

Makalu is a multifunctional piece of furniture designed specifically for compact living spaces. The concept revolves around creating a chair that discreetly incorporates a second function, eliminating the need for two separate items and thereby saving valuable space. In addition to serving as a comfortable, ergonomic chair, it also functions as a ladder. When a high object needs to be reached, simply flip the chair upside down and stand on its sturdy base. The frame’s textured surface, achieved by applying putty with a roller, enhances grip and ensures stability during use. Lightweight and easy to maneuver, Makalu offers both practicality and versatility in one sleek design.

The object was designed by Jakub Bruss, a student of Industrial Design.

The project is part of the exhibition "Synanthropic plants. What Weeds teach us?" which was presented at this year's Gdynia Design Days 2024 festival.
