IKEBAŃKA

Ikebańka is a vase-basket that draws inspiration from the art of Japanese ikebana and the natural weaving and crawling patterns of Common Purslane. The design incorporates locally sourced materials, such as reed and Japanese knotweed, to highlight the intricate interplay and symbiosis of natural elements. The basket is composed of two parts, which can be connected by magnets or used separately, allowing for versatile floral arrangements. This project seeks to create a cozy and harmonious atmosphere, while maintaining a sense of playfulness and intrigue.

Author of the project

The object was designed by Dobromiła Grabiec, a student of Industrial Design.

The project is part of the exhibition "Synanthropic plants. What Weeds teach us?" which was presented at this year's Gdynia Design Days 2024 festival.
