Drift Away

"Drift Away" is a story about the steady rise of ocean waters, told through the example of the disappearing Hel Peninsula. Rooted in reflections on the passing of time, the narrative is expressed through experimental objects inspired by the author’s idyllic childhood memories. The project is both a personal response to solastalgia and an attempt to draw attention to the ongoing climate crisis.

To commemorate the Peninsula, the author collaborated with the elements—water, earth, and wind. The resulting objects include plaster casts of sand, aluminum reliefs of rocks, and fabric dyed by wind movement in the bay. The project also features an audiovisual collage combining archival footage from the author’s childhood with new recordings made in the same location. It culminated in an exhibition at the Suline Gallery in Warsaw.
