Profile

Anna Bera is a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the University of Arts in Poznań. She is a member of the Nów. New Craft Poland association. She is also a two-time recipient of a scholarship from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

She runs her own studio in Warsaw. Working at the intersection of art, design, and craft, she creates functional objects, primarily in wood. In her practice, she explores how objects exist in space. She plays with the definition of utility, creating sculptural furniture that does not immediately reveal its function, instead inviting viewers to assign meaning themselves. The function of an object often serves merely as a pretext for its creation; form challenges function and intentionally complicates or even prevents use.

Her work has been presented in exhibitions in Poland, Europe, the United States, and Southeast Asia, including at the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York, the Lapidarium of the National Museum in Prague, Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft, NOMUS – New Art Museum in Gdańsk, as well as at numerous festivals and fairs such as Milan Design Week, WantedDesign Manhattan, Collect Art Fair in London, Łódź Design Festival, and Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair.
