The "Graduation Show" is the most important event for the students of the School of Form, crowning their four years of study. The students' projects, in which they have invested not only their heart and energy, but also the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their studies, are presented to the public for the first time. The vernissage took place on March 10, 2023 at 17:00 in the main hall of the Warsaw campus of the SWPS University.

Diploma projects

The end crowns the work

At School of Form, the process of preparing a graduation project takes a full year. In fact, it lasts four years, as the program has been arranged in such a way as to lead step by step to the creation of a project that crowns all the years of study.

The graduation project is unique. It is also more difficult, involving stronger emotions and driven by greater ambition. Graduates, being socially and environmentally conscious, feel obliged to change the world immediately. And rightly so, since questioning the existing system is one of the essential elements of design. In order to be able to create something from scratch, it is necessary to thoroughly understand and study what already exists, and to think about the causes of the current situation. One needs to know the context, the audience, their needs and limitations. It is necessary to find a niche, an unnoticed, undeveloped, as yet unplanned theme. Although many projects have already been created, there are still plenty of fields to explore and design.

Solving today's problems and thinking about the future

This year's graduation projects are about homesickness and pride in one's culture. They delve into the topic of locality, explore the source of the feeling of belonging, and capture the dreams of today's student community in a film frame that can be listened to with interest in a few years. The projects raise the issue of overconsumption and the environmental impact of the materials used. Students use old tires or used clothing in their work, combining sentimentality with upcycling, as well as searching for alternative raw materials. Many projects encourage reflection on the transience of memory and the unknown future.

Practical and abstract ideas

Some of the authors have created practical solutions that support the body and mind, soothe the senses, and help people relax. Other works are abstract, encouraging people to ask questions and seek answers on their own.

A lot has happened recently: pandemic, war, inflation. Big issues are projected into the lives of individuals. The graduation projects show how skillfully and empathetically the students process their individual experiences into projects.
