The OPO Project

Flip-flops made of rubber granules from recycled tires.

The world is increasingly using non-renewable natural resources that are often not properly recycled after use. By developing technologies to process already used materials, we can reduce the amount of unnecessary pollution on our planet. The author of the project wanted to face this problem personally, to find an effective way to reuse the material and to create a product whose production does not harm the environment.

The author also wanted to demonstrate the potential of rubber as a material that can be repeatedly recycled. Through research and experimentation, he created a prototype pair of shoes that significantly reduced the need to use raw materials in the production of the next pair. They were made from rubber granules obtained from recycled car tires.
