Sense It

The purpose of “Sense It” is not only to stimulate the senses, but also to explore how the user perceives the world around them through the prism of different stimuli. The system reveals how external factors affect the user, what actions they take and what drives them.

The system is focused on gradually stimulating successive senses, starting with sight, through touch, to hearing, and finally focusing on the sense of smell. This particular sense is experienced last because of the way our brain processes information. Olfactory responses are often delayed and only occur when the user encounters an intense smell that can be perceived as pleasant or unpleasant. It is worth noting that most people do not develop full awareness of their sense of smell. With each breath, the nose absorbs volatile olfactory particles that are not always consciously recognized by the brain.

Children learn sensory activities such as reading (vision), recognizing shapes (touch), listening, walking (movement), tasting (taste), but they are rarely taught to smell and to describe what they feel. This sense is often overlooked in people's daily functioning. The project focuses on the appreciation of each of the senses, reminding them of the uniqueness of the sense of smell. By interacting with the object, the mind is stimulated and begins to derive knowledge by forming associations and nomenclature related to smell. The lack of an attached manual gives the user freedom of action, and guidance from other users becomes an additional opportunity for joint interaction.
