An art anthropologist and translator.
She studied archaeology and ethnography and has a doctorate in art studies. She is an assistant professor at the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Warsaw. She is interested in interdisciplinary approaches to research in the meaning of objects as well as visual performances. Of particular interest to her are the factors which encourage people to collect objects, use them in a non-standard way, worship them, be bound to them, react to them emotionally as well as why having contact with these objects is so important to so many people. She has researched kitsch and modern devotional art, folk art and the social construction of monuments as well as the concept of the museum as a space for social practices.
She teaches in the fields of anthropology of art, anthropology of museums and the social construction of monuments in Poland. In School of Form she coordinates lectures and workshops in anthropology.
