Editorial graphic design
Avoids literality, anecdotes and the author's typical gestures in his work. He focuses on the context. Designing, he yields to the tool and explores its paradoxes. Using graphic design he discusses the process, moving it to the centre of his interests.
He professionally designs mostly magazines. He worked as an art director of ‘FUTU DESIGN GUIDE’ and ‘PURE’ magazine, for which he won the Chimera and KTR. Edgar is a graphic designer at WAW magazine, a quarterly ‘kultura popularna’ and the film industry magazine ‘FILMPRO’.
He is the author of the visual identification of Cracow Month of Photography, Looksfery.com portal and Cracow Literature Days. He co-created the visual communication of the newly built Sinfonia Varsovia Centre in Warsaw and the campaign for the Polish Advertising Festival. For the purpose of Art and Fashion Festival he designed the zin ‘Raw’. He collaborated with Reserved, New Theatre, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, University of Warsaw, Museum of the History of Polish Jews and publishing house ha! art. He is responsible for the effective redesign of the network of ‘comforty living’ stores.
Bąk graduated with honours from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, Faculty of Graphic Arts (diploma in professor Lech Majewski’s studio, 2006) where he was an assistant professor in the illustration studio of professor Zygmunt Januszewski. Currently he runs a typography studio at School of Form. His works were published mainly in the album Los Logos (Die Gestalten), Page Unlimited Innovations in Layout-Design (Sandu Publishing), Green Graphic (Index Book) and PGR (Karakter) as well as in magazines: IdN, Varoom, 2+3d, (op.cit.,).
