PREP SCHOOL OF FORM is a one year course, the goal of which is to prepare candidates for Visual Communication Design and Product Design students, who are uncertain of their language skills.

Aside from an intensive course in English, the participants of PREP SCHOOL will take part in classes, which will allow them to prepare better for design studies, and learn drawing as well as basic concepts in culture and design. During the classes devoted to drawing, they will learn different techniques of design drawing, as well as life drawing and using their imagination, whilst working with the students of the School of Form. During the classes devoted to culture, which will be conducted in the form of trips, presentations, lectures and discussions, they will get to know the city and its surrounding areas, as well as museums and galleries, and share their experiences gathered in other countries and from other cultures.
After a year in the School of Form, they will feel right at home in the University and in Poznań, and will be able to communicate freely in English, ready to take on the bachelor degree studies in one of the School of Form majors: Visual Communication Design or Product Design.

The PREP SCHOOL Programme consists of 600 hours of classes during the year. Each week, the students take part in 20 hours of classes. During the 1st semester, 16 hours are devoted to intensive classes in the English language, and the rest is devoted to drawing. During the 2nd semester, the number of language learning hours is reduced to 12; 4 hours are devoted to drawing, and 4 hours to classes on cultural notions.

It is possible to choose full course consisting of English and drawing classes or choose English classes only.

All PREP SCHOOL classes are conducted in the main building of the School of Form, near our specialist workshops, and in the headquarters of the SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities, meaning the students get to know our comprehensive offer.

The classes will take place from Monday till Thursday, thus allowing students to go on tourist trips or work during the rest of the week. The city of Poznan is the great place to sightsee itself as well as the starting point for travelling through Europe, thanks to its location in the centre between Warsaw and Berlin and the convenient Ławica Airport, offering flights to many Eurpean destinations. You can easily reach most of the capital cities in Europe within 2-3 hours flight!

PREP SCHOOL students have their own mentor, who is in charge of administrative duties and will provide student support, helping them adapt to the new environment.

What will I learn?

Industrial Design

Industrial Design students work with practitioners representing many disciplines. It is here that social robotics meets bionics, product design is supported by ergonomics, and material structures are created with the use of parametric algorithms. Each stage of the process is conducted under the guidance of a team of excellent designers, who teach how to merge technological perfection with humanist reflection and plastic sensitivity.

School of Form is committed to working with the business. Thanks to our business partners, our students can participate in inspiring international projects already during the first year of study. During the second year students are given the opportunity to take training and internship in one of the companies, organizations and institutions cooperating with the school. This way they learn how to work in a professional design team, test their skills and discover the potential path of further development.
